Chenille yarn is a lightweight and durable material for hand weaving. We have written about it more than once, so surely by reading this note you already know well that it is an ideal yarn for making blankets, pillowcases, cushions. Personally, we’re big fans of it: it doesn’t get mossy, it can be braided and unbraided and washed many times, and it will still look like new. It is simply the perfect alternative to merino wool or worsted wool for blankets that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.

If you want to start your adventure with weaving blankets from our yarn, however, you will face an important question: how many skeins are needed to make a blanket of the dimensions I want? The answer is that it depends – primarily on how big of a mesh you want to make and how tightly you weave the blanket. Nevertheless, the number of skeins needed can be easily estimated based on the dimensions of the blanket. To help you with this, we have included a calculator below that will count it for you 🙂 Set your desired width and length, and you will get the number of skeins of our yarn, which will be enough to make a blanket in the dimensions you want.
